Opened in 1963, Methodist Hospital is the flagship facility of Methodist Healthcare in the world renowned South Texas Medical Center. Methodist Hospital is San Antonio’s largest private hospital and is a nine time winner of the National Consumer Choice Award for overall quality and image. Methodist Hospital is home to the Methodist Heart Hospital*, the largest center of its kind in the region and providing the most comprehensive cardiovascular services in the area.
Opened in October of 1998, the Methodist Children’s Hospital of South Texas* located in the South Texas Medical Center is the only hospital in the region designed and built especially for children. Colorful images and artwork enhance every window and wall to create a welcoming, child-focused environment that includes play rooms on every floor. Methodist Children’s Hospital* offers 24 hour pediatric emergency room, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, pediatric operating suites and special outpatient clinics for children with complex illnesses. In addition, Methodist Children’s Hospital* offers one of the most recognized pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant programs in the country.
Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital*, located in the South Texas Medical Center, has 379 licensed beds. It is acclaimed nationally for its specialized medical transplant services from kidney, kidney/pancreas, liver transplants to the latest treatments in impotency and incontinence problems and gastroenteric procedures. Laparoscopic surgery is performed in special, dedicated, state-of-the-art surgical suites.
Located near downtown San Antonio, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital* is a 383-bed hospital providing a complete range of health care services in San Antonio and the many neighborhoods and businesses that border its centralized location. In 2005, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital* opened the new Metropolitan Methodist Hospital Women’s Pavilion, the only facility in downtown San Antonio completely dedicated to the health of women and their newborn babies. Methodist Texsan Hospital is the newest member of the Methodist Healthcare family of outstanding health care facilities. Opening in 2004, the hospital primarily focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. In late 2010, the Methodist Healthcare System announced plans to purchase Texsan Heart Hospital. The purchase became final January 1, 2011. Over the prior seven-year period, physicians, nurses, medical technicians and professional staff developed an award-winning reputation for providing outstanding cardiovascular care in San Antonio and South Texas. Methodist Texsan Hospital is a 120-bed licensed acute care facility with all private rooms, four operating suites, four cardiac catheterization labs and a cardiovascular emergency department. Methodist Texsan Hospital is designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center.
