META (Methodist Emergency Travel Assistance) 

A service provided by Methodist Healthcare of San Antonio, to U.S. travelers abroad and residents in other countries needing an emergency medical transport to its world class acute-care hospitals. International Services has extensive experience in coordinating emergency medical transports with various air ambulances foreign and domestic and has an extensive network of affiliated hospitals in both resort and interior cities throughout Mexico.

In an emergency time is critical. In order to respond immediately to medical emergencies, International Services has a protocol that can be activated by placing one phone call. When the phone call is received an air ambulance can be arranged, the appropriate specialist notified, and hospital admissions secured. International Services also works with your air ambulance provider to verify coverage with your insurance provider.

META provides the following services 24 hours a day:

• Medical emergency services and coordination
• Secure hospital admissions accepting physicians
• International Physician Panel specialists on-call
• Physician to physician consultations
• Air ambulance service and coordination

Methodist Healthcare’s preferred provider is Air Medical due to its track record professionalism and demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality. Air Medical is an international air ambulance service that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). All CAMTS certified aircraft are configured as airborne Intensive Care Units, with highly qualified medical personnel on board.
