We want your visit to be as comfortable and safe as possible. Therefore, we want to help you prepare beforehand for your next visit with us.
What to Do
International Services can assist you beforehand to coordinate your hospital stay. For your admission you need a deposit that can be made with a credit card, a Bank to Bank fund transfer or a Money transfer. If you plan to pay off your account before leaving the hospital, we offer our international patients a special discount for prompt payment;call International Services for more information.
If you have international medical insurance, International Services can help you clarify all the coverage specifics. Methodist Healthcare has agreements with the most important insurance companies of Mexico and if we have an agreement with your insurance company, we can make arrangements to bill hospital charges directly to the company depending on your coverage.
What to Bring
To make your stay more pleasant, we’ve made a list of special items that you should have before you arrive at Methodist Healthcare:

A list of your medications and current prescriptions.

Medical and radiographic information provided by your physician, in the event a physician from Methodist Healthcare has requests.

The documents/forms requested.

Name, address and phone number of the referring physician if applicable.

Information on your medical insurance.

A photocopy of your living will/instructions given in advance, if applicable. It is mandatory for your physician and the hospital to have the opportunity to review these documents, which will then become part of your medical file.
Upon Your Arrival
If you are concerned about the language difference and need a bilingual member of our staff to help you during your stay with us, please call International Services so that a specialist may assist you during your stay.
The Admissions Office
With help of our Admissions Office staff, you will complete the necessary paper work, but if, for medical reasons, you have to be transferred to a hospital room directly, a relative or authorized caregiver can carry out the paper work and provide the necessary information including:

Personal information for billing.

Medical insurance coverage.

Signature of financial liability documents and relevant deposits.

Presentation of anticipated instructions, including instructions for your physician and/or living will.

Room assignment.
Room Selection
If you would like a private room or a suite, which unfortunately, cannot be reserved with anticipation, please let the person who takes your information in the Admissions Office know and they will do everything possible to assign you the room you want. Insurance covers semiprivate rooms but not the private rooms or suites.
Your Stay in Methodist Healthcare
Medications
During your hospitalization we provide you with all your medications according to the instructions given by your attending physician; we ask you to not take any medication without having consulted your doctor.
Food In The Patient’s Room
Food is served in your room. You will receive a menu everyday to select your food choice. If you forgot to select the daily menu, please notify your nurse so that she can bring another one.
Diets Prescribed By The Doctor
If your doctor orders a modified diet, please follow his recommendations, it’s for your own good that you don’t eat any other food without your physician’s authorization. Your hospital nurse and dietitian will clarify your questions about the diet and will indicate your nutritional needs. If you require a special diet, such as KOSHER food, please let us know to so that we can fulfill your request.
Lodging for Relatives or Friends For One Night
In Methodist Healthcare we understand how important it is to have relatives and friends close to you during your treatment; it you desire, notify the person who assisted you in the Admissions Office or let your nurse know in order to make the arrangements to have someone spend the night with you.
Visitors
We know how important it is for you to have family and friends visit you in your room, but in some cases, depending on the patients condition and the doctors orders, visitors are not allowed during a specific period of time, especially in the Recovery and Intensive Care areas.
Food For Visitors
Visitors are allowed to eat in the room. The Methodist Healthcare hospitals have a cafeteria for your family and friends’ convenience. Ask your nurse for the location and schedule of the hospital cafeteria.
Methodist Hospital has a “Market Place” located at the main entrance. The Market Place offers a variety of shops and restaurants.
Parking Lot
Methodist Healthcare medical centers have parking lot centers with security 24 hours a day.
Chaplain Services
There is a bilingual chaplain at all times who can provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and their relatives, whatever your religion is. If you wish, you can call the chaplain directly or you can ask your nurse for more information.

Discharge From Methodist Healthcare

A financial advisor or a representative from International Services who speaks Spanish will be in charge of clarifying any questions regarding your discharge from the hospital.
Billing
You can pay with an international credit card, traveler’s checks or cash. If you need a detailed bill of our services, or if you have any questions about your hospital account, please contact a representative from the International Department.

Your Final Hospital Account
The final account cannot be given to you upon discharge, since it takes about one week to add up all charges. Your final account which reflects the remaining balance will be sent to you by mail to your home address.
Fees
Your hospital account does not include:

Medical fees.
-
The fees of the specialists or surgeon’s assistant.

Anesthesiologist’s fees.
-
Laboratory, pathology and radiology services.
These services are charged separately and the corresponding invoices will be sent directly to you. If you have any questions regarding medical or specialist’s fees, please talk to your physician directly.
Access to Your Medical File
If you need a copy of your medical file, please contact the nurse in charge of your area; if you request a copy of your file before you are discharged, you will not be charged for it, but if you request it after you have left the hospital, a minimum charge will be made.
Assistance to Go From Your Room to The Main Lobby
One of our Blue Bird volunteers will take you in a wheel chair to the main entrance.
